The basic methodology is simple. The probe is erected. Once that is done, the drill then rams straight downward and pounds the earth until it penetrates. Then the data can be collected.
A solid foundation is of paramount importance. This is especially true for any structure larger than an outhouse. If the ground a structure is built on is unstable, then the resulting building itself will be unstable. Geotechnical drilling is an effective means to test whether or not the ground is fine for construction projects.
Humans have certain expectations. One is comfort. But the other is safety, and there are steps to insure that.
