Can Electromagnetic Therapy Heal Your Cat's Broken Leg?

by Robin Setser

If your cat suffers a broken leg, it's safe to assume that you must take additional care of them. Your pet shouldn't have to suffer and while a broken bone takes time to heal, you're not entirely helpless. As a pet owner, there are a few ways that you can make your animal friend more comfortable. You might even be able to hasten the healing process by way of PEMF treatment for cats. For a better understanding of what to do in this situation, read on.

The first thing to do, if you suspect that your cat has a broken leg, is to take him or her to the local veterinarian. There are a few signs to be aware of, such as limping and visual swelling, that indicate a problem that's much more serious than a sprain. From there, you should bring your pet to the vet so that the problem can be properly diagnosed. From there, your cat's limb will be set in a cast so that it can recover.

Broken bones occur in a number of ways, the most common being extreme stress to the affected area. One of the most important things to know about this circumstance is that it can occur from out of nowhere. Even though an animal may be able to run and play for hours on end, a small leap can result in a broken limb if the landing is awkward. Whatever the situation entails, getting in touch with your veterinarian as soon as possible is recommended.

Some broken bone situations are more severe than others, which means that your cat may require surgery if the injury in question cannot properly heal on its own. If the break is not as severe, your veterinarian may simply apply a cast and tell you to keep your cat well-rested until the bone becomes strong again. You may also want to consider utilizing PEMF treatment for cats in order to increase the rate of healing. Before doing this - and companies such as Assisi Animal Health will tell you to do the same - bring it up with your vet to get their expert opinion.

These are just a few things to know about cats and broken bones. It's unfortunate when these animals suffer these types of breaks, but it's not like you're without help. Along with the veterinary care covered earlier, you should take the proper precautions to ensure that this issue doesn't occur in the first place. By keeping a close watch on your pet and removing them from locations that are too high, unexpected breaks won't be a concern.
