Through out the ages, human beings have always been trying to survive in a wild, wild world. Though it all, there was been one thing constant in the struggle of life. That constant is known as competition. This sort of wild instinct that keeps people competing with each other is not limited to human beings alone. These kinds of things had evolved over the thousands of years of history. The biggest form of this spirit of competition inside people is personified in sports. For the Greeks, the events held a very special significance to them. When the Greeks created the idea for an Olympics it was done so that Zeus will bring the favor of god upon them. But soon it became a way for cities and states to show off their champions and prove the superiority and dominance had over other, weak states.
The Romans, who had taken over the Greeks, adapted this idea as well. The Romans in particular, loved the Greek life so much that most of their own cultural identities are based on various ideas by Greece. The Romans did manage to separate themselves as they had their own unique version of games.
The advances of medicine had changed the modern sport forever. Now there many ways to enhance a body to meet the desired results and become a better person as a result. The advancements also help out in treating injuries that were thought to be grave and very serious. Mostly is today world, people do sports to stay fit and in shape.
The benefits of doing sporting activities is wide and various. The most beneficial to this though are college students that can get by with a scholarship. Most only have this and are only able to attended schools through this way.
