How To Save Money On Groceries, By Robert Jain
by Jason McDonald
When you think about what people spend the most money on, from month to month, groceries would rank high on the list. After all, these are the necessities that are easy to take for granted until we realize just how much we spend on them. Are you someone that's looking to save a little money in the future, though? For those that would like to learn more about how this can be done, here are some money-saving grocery shopping tips from Robert Jain.
Before you even step foot inside of a grocery store, create a list and stick to it. What this does, according to such names as Bob Jain, is help you form a game plan so that you don't end up spending money on things you don't need, which is a trap that many shoppers fall into. Pick up only what you need and make it to the checkout lane without any detours. This will keep you on track, not only in terms of your groceries but the money you spend as well.
Along with a list, you should create a collection of coupons you intend on using. While doing this, make sure that they line up with the products that you're looking to buy. You should also make sure that the store you're going to will be able to accept them, as locations have unique rules regarding the coupons that they're allowed to accept. If you smartly pick out and amass coupons, you can end up saving more money.
Third, go shopping on a full stomach. For those that don't know, when you go grocery shopping when hungry, the first instinct is to stock up on food that you may not need. This is a psychological trick that more people should be aware of. For those that plan on grocery shopping with long lists in their possession, have a meal beforehand. This will prevent you from making purchases that, in the grand scheme of things, are unneeded.
Lastly, let's say that there is an item of interest on your list that's on sale; you should think about buying it in bulk. This is especially true for items like cereal and bread that, provided they're stored with care, don't go bad so quickly. The same can't be said for dairy or meat, which can only be kept for certain lengths of time. If nonperishable food items are on sale, however, don't be shy about stocking up.
