A characteristic that is common among people who are followers of these movements is a general uneasiness or straight up dissent when it comes to immigration policies. They tend to think that their country allows too much immigration, being strongly opposed to it in general. This is especially the case in Europe, where many European countries that have these movements going on disagree with the immigration policies of the European Union.
It can be said that many of the groups that are considered part of this ideology are completely different when you look at who they are and what they stand for. This lack of consistency has led to some confusion as to what it really means when a person or group holds this title. This is why it is necessary to really get to know how the definition works in your country or locality and make sure you are using the word correctly, and to make sure you are joining the right type of group that stands for all the same things that you stand for.
There are a great number of these types of movements and groups that emerged in or around the 1990s. The reason for this cannot be said to be just one thing or another simply due to the fact that it was because of a combination of many factors that made such a great number of people want to join in movements like these. The ideology is still going strong today.
It's quite common to hear these movements described as far right in the United States. The reason why some movements choose to not identify with this title is that there are many things that the far-right has done or said that some groups wouldn't be very proud of. They don't want people to think that they are associated with all of the same things that the far-right is, are some choose to go by a different name.
